Sheet Music: ScoreThe Harp in the Highlands : piano solo / Ann Carr-Boyd.by Ann Carr-Boyd (2004)

Product details
The Harp in the Highlands was composed at the request of
John Martin, who wished me to write another "Highlands" piece to
accompany A Day in Taralga, a work composed about a
small and very picturesque town called Taralga, near Goulburn,
New South Wales. It seemed appropriate that this companion piece
should be inspired by "The Harp" in Sutton Forest.
My good friend Marlene Bell has lovingly restored this historic
building which was built as an Inn in 1834 to service travellers
on The Great South Road to Goulburn. She has opened The Harp as a
Bed and Breakfast, so that modern day travellers can also enjoy
its warmth and ambience, and stroll in the grounds which are
shaded by huge old trees. This short piano piece, prompted by the
name of the old Inn, is an attempt to evoke one of the many moods
of the Southern Highlands - the mood perhaps picturing the misty
scene which often envelops this part of the world and makes it
easier for us to unite past and present.
