Product details

Song For the Fisherman's Daughter is a work guitar and String Quartet. The music is inspired by the northern coast of Ireland where scenes of the turbulent ocean and lonely fishing trawlers provoke feelings of emotional fear. The music portrays the contradictory thoughts of a daughter who must watch the ocean and wait for her father to return. The idea of the fisherman's daughter comes from old Irish folk tales involving a fisherman who meets a mermaid. The music is full of rich harmonies and unrelated and unprepared modulations in the tradition of Ravel and Debussy. The guitar part contains beautiful effect such as harmonics, tambora and strumming effect and also makes use of a guitar slide. It contains three short movements and is an inviting concert piece that will complement well known chamber music repertoire.
