Product details
Robert Graves' scholarly tome, The White Goddess, is a compendium
of Celtic myth, Ancient lore, and Mediterranean legend in which
he lists the properties of the Tree Alphabet.
The significance of certain groups of trees as books to be
interpreted by initiates such as the Druids was so great that, in
Ireland, the selling of certain trees was punishable by
death!
The hollow tones of the bassoon, the voice of Ogham the Tree god,
match well with the mellow tones of the wooden marimba in this
piece, recalling the furtive Mysteries carried out by acolytes,
as suggested in certain Fauvist paintings.
