Digital Sheet Music [PDF]: ScorePrelude IX : [eScore] / Aristea Mellos.by Aristea Mellos (2022)
|
Product details
Prelude IX takes its inspiration from a sign that was planted along the shore at Seven Mile Beach during my visit in December 2021. The sand dunes of the beach are home to a vibrant ecosystem of plant and bird life, including some rather feisty sandpipers.
The Prelude plays with contrary motion and shifting points of symmetry. Repeated triplet rhythms are punctuated by sporadic snapping from the pipers. The pattern is interrupted by a comically aggressive melody that makes up for its brevity with bite. The melody breaks apart, and the triplets return, only to skip out of sight.
