Product details

In 2017 I began a project to write 10 new works, each a feature for one of the 10 musicians in the ensemble, to celebrate 10 years since JLD first came together. Each new composition was written in dialogue with the featured performer, with our initial conversations planting the seeds for the music that followed. This first volume includes 5 of those 10 works.

Aso available in a limited edition as hard copy.

This project has been assisted by the Australian Government through the Australia Council, its arts funding and advisory body. It has also been supported by Monash University.

Thanks to this incredible group of musicians for their generosity and enthusiasm throughout this project. Thanks to my students and colleagues at Monash, especially the jazz team. Thanks to my family for their endless support. Special thanks to Ben, Aaron, Emily, Nicole and Andrew, whose provocations inspired the five tracks included here. Thanks to Martin Jackson and the Melbourne Jazz Co-op for supporting the premiere of this music. Extra-special thanks to my darling wife Emma Patterson, for her ongoing support and inspiration, and to our little boy Harvey. Thank you to my crowd funding supporters – you have made this possible and I am incredibly grateful.
