Product details
The famous speech by Prime Minister Robert Menzies, in which he announces to the nation that Australia is at war with Germany, is heard with accompaniment by the choir and ensemble that is designed to enhance perception of the melody in Menzies' spoken words. Emphasising the melancholy aspect of the speech, the accompaniment is in the form of a descending ground bass. The sense of doom and depression, with some glimpses of hope, is apparent in the music.
