Sheet Music: ScoreFour episodes for piano : (names and initials), for piano / Gerald Glynn.by Gerald Glynn (2010)

Product details
The first and last of these four pieces are known only by the letters "A" and "E", being the first letters of friends' names which have been converted into musical notation, and then into themes for treatment.
The central episodes are named after the composers to whom they refer. ALBERTI (1710-1740) gave his name to the repeated, broken-chord figure, usually played by the left hand, that is present in so many keyboard works of the classical period. Here, each of the opening triads concludes with a "wrong" note, and the clash between "right" and "wrong" is explored and exploited throughout the piece. ARNOLD derives from the second of Schönberg's Sechs kleine Klavierstücke, written in 1911; the repeated thirds which open this little piece are then subject to variation, extension and decoration.
