Product details
I saw fireflies for the first time when staying in the mountains of Amagase in Kyushu, the most southern large island of Japan. Arresting stars sparkled in the gaps between the pine trees, and near a lower bough, fireflies moved in large arcs, their light less sparkling than stars, yet still brilliant and intense. Their light would suddenly extinguish, then later illuminate again, and this slow, continual pattern gave an entrancing and almost playful character to their presence. The fireflies created a rhythm of silent and slowly moving intersecting arcs of light, expressing restrained vitality. They seemed to belong to the protective pine tree around which they moved.
