This product forms part of the following series: Listening Room.
'Experimentum Mundi': Composer Giorgio Battistelli scored his work with the rhythms and timbres made by craftsmen in his native village of Albano outside Rome. He also found inspiration in the work of French philosopher Diderot whose texts provide a narrative through the work, performed here by Denis Olsen. This feature uses recordings from the second and latest Australian performance of the work at the July 2001 Queensland Biennial, together with interviews with Battistelli himself and percussionist Nicola Raffone.
Originally broadcast on The Listening Room, ABC Classic FM, 8 October 2001.
'Odds on': One in a series of hot tips by cultural icons for the top ten places in the ABC Classic FM top 100. Composer and musician Michael Atherton takes us on a journey exploring musical borderlands.
Non-commercial recording - for study purposes only.
