Product details
This album presents three important works by quartet founder Romano Crivici himself. 'Flat Earth', for string quartet with Mark Atkins on didgeridoo and percussionists Philip South and Jess Ciampa, speaks of the composer's personal relationship with the Australian outback. Shifting rhythms, textures and musical mirages weave around the didgeridoo, offering sparks of colour in a fascinating sonic landscape.
'Undercurrents' explores ideas and images of the multi-layered
psyche. With its undulating ripples, soaring melodies and a
finale featuring a soaring, fragile solo violin, it is 'intense,
dark and quietly beautiful' (Limelight magazine).
The sensual groove of 'Gregorian Funk' is a reflection of the
good humour and 'very relaxed' working relationships and deep
friendships that have flourished amongst the members of the
ensemble.
