Sheet Music: ScoreCycles-1 : for harpsichord / Lawrence Whiffin.by Lawrence Whiffin (1978)
|
Product details
This piece was the first of a series of pieces called 'Cycles'. They are all based on a formal plan in which the characteristics and implications of the beginning segments are reflected in each subsequent section, from small to large, as the work develops. All parameters are considered: tempo, duration, texture, dynamics, register, mood, etc. The characteristics of each work create its originality as they do in all music, and a basic tenet of the technique states that "structural discipline permits maximum freedom within the subdivisions of that structure."
