Sheet Music: ScoreBit(e) : for flute, bass clarinet, viola and harp / by Elliott Gyger.by Elliott Gyger (2001)

Product details
This work started life as a brief trio for flute, viola and harp, written in three days as part of my general examinations at Harvard. Composing under these conditions, my main concern was not so much elaborating a subtle musical argument as creating a virtuosic interplay of colours. When I looked at the piece again three years later, I decided to play up the emphasis on timbre by adding a second presentation of the same music, completely re-orchestrated, with the addition of bass clarinet (which also has a brief solo linking the two versions). Although not written under exam conditions, the revision and expansion was also carried out in just a few days. The original trio version of the piece was entitled bit: the addition of the fourth letter (like that of the fourth instrument) has little effect on the content, but profoundly changes the colour.
