Sheet Music: ScoreA crimson carousel : for symphonic band / David Keeffe.by David Keeffe (2013)
|
Product details
While not programmatic, the work is an impression of a mysterious, perhaps haunted fairground, with allusions to malevolent controlling forces. While there is no musical link (apart from the the time signature), listeners might find modern-day parallels with Danse Macabre.
"A Crimson
Carousel" portrays the macabre and the
outlandish, but couched in the familiar rhythms of the waltz.
Imagine entering a darkened fairground, with the remorseless
tunes of the carousel drifting towards
you. As you approach, the tunes become more distinct - but at the
same time you become aware of darker forces at play. Is someone
or something trying to control you, forcing you to join the
dance? Do you struggle or give in?
