Event Details
Under the baton of celebrated conductor, Carolyn Watson, the Willoughby Symphony Orchestra will perform a selection of beloved classics in MIRACLE.
Opening with Haydn’s Miracle Symphony, named for the legendary story of the work’s premiere when a chandelier fell from the ceiling of the concert hall and narrowly missed the audience!
The centrepiece of the concert is the intoxicating Concerto for Marimba and Orchestra by 2017 Composer-in-Residence, Daniel Rojas. In a glittering display of talent and skill, superb percussionist Claire Edwardes navigates the work’s intricate demands with aplomb.
The program will conclude with Mendelssohn’s stunning First Symphony, a work completed when the composer was just fifteen years old.
Featured non-Australian music: Haydn, Mendelssohn
