Event Details

This unusual concert begins with Spanish folk and Baroque music, linking to Pablo Sarasate's dances for violin and piano, which have been arranged for flute and piano by Melbourne University PhD student Beatriz Pomes Jiminez and will be heard here for the first time. After interval, similar mixes of instrumentation (including flute, strings, harpsichord, piano, strings, clarinet and guitar), will be explored through the contrasting sound world of 1960s Melbourne and the music of esteemed Australian composer Helen Gifford.

Featured non-Australian music: Sarasate
