Matthew Hindson’s dazzling new Saxophone Concerto
‘I have never heard saxophone playing so seductive and alluring.’ The Herald, Scotland
No one can accentuate the various colours of the saxophone like Amy Dickson. This multi award-winning performer is renowned for her silky and delectable tone. In this concert she brings her artistry to Matthew Hindson’s dazzling new Saxophone Concerto.
Colours of a different kind swirl about in Ravel’s ballet score Mother Goose (Ma mère l’oye), which evokes the charming world of children’s fairy tales. Sleeping Beauty, Tom Thumb and the most magical of fairy gardens all come to life in Ravel’s miraculous score. Although he lived in Vienna for the last ten years of his life, Mozart had a special affinity with Prague, and the citizens of Prague loved him in return. His Prague Symphony is by turns joyous, majestic and reflective. Classic Mozart, in other words.
