Event Details
Three jazz pianists. Two generations. One family. The Nettelbeck family may well be unique in Australia, with three jazz pianists who each have distinctive styles. Brothers Colin and Ted Nettelbeck both became distinguished academics (at Melbourne and Adelaide Universities) while Alexander (the son of Colin) is a professional jazz musician who has performed widely in Australia and overseas. They will be performing together in public for the first time at fortyfivedownstairs this October, with four of Australia’s top jazz instrumentalists: Richard Miller (saxophone/woodwinds), Mikey Chan (guitar), Rory Brown (bass) and Darren Perkins (drums). The program will give music enthusiasts a unique opportunity to compare three different approaches to the piano, and jazz interpretation in a program full of surprises.
