Event Details

An intriguing concert of ancient and modern sounds from local instruments and sculptures made by Lorne's own outstanding wood mastercraftman Byan Poynton. Hear the Lute, a medieaval psaltery, a rebec played by the internationally acclamed early music ensemble La Romanesca as well as cross cultural music for two zithers by the east and west duo and the subtly amplified sounds of a hurdy gurdy sculpture.
The music travels from medieaval sefardic Mediterranean to the Australian bush, an ancient Greek Sapphic ode brought into the present, a cross cultural exchange between Australian and Vietnamese zithers, a lute improvisation by Joseph Griffiths for Bryan and a new work Pandora's box composed by Ros Bandt and Angie Grant. Friends of Bryan are celebrating Bryan's sensitivity to wood and the beauty of the local forest.
