Event Details
Pianist/composer Gemma Turvey leads her exciting cross-genre chamber ensemble the New Palm Court Orchestra on tour to South-East Queensland in June, performing at Old Government House, Brisbane on Saturday 15th June and at the Noosa Long Weekend Festival on Sunday 16th June.
Fresh from standout performances at the Sydney Opera House’s Utzon Room and the Great Hall at University House in Canberra in April, this concert will feature music from their new CD Landscapes for a Mind’s Eye as composed by the NPCO’s Artistic Director, pianist/composer Gemma Turvey.
Palm Court Orchestras were popular in the 1920s and 30s for playing light instrumental music in an intimate setting. The NPCO injects this seductive format with a new and fresh vitality, delivering a stunning, rich palette of Gemma’s evocative instrumental music.
The New Palm Court Orchestra is proudly supported by Latitude Travel and Stones of the Yarra Valley. The event forms part of the Noosa Long Weekend Festival.
Performers: Gemma Turvey - Pianist/Composer/Artistic Director; Frank Di Sario - Double Bass; Sam Bates - Drums; Luke Moller - Violin; Larissa Aguiar - Violin; Merewyn Bramble - Viola; Anna Orzech - Cello; Karen Heath - Clarinet; Rosemary Savage - French Horn
