Event Details
The writing’s on the wall for Belshazzar in Walton’s monumental choral-symphony on an Old Testament story. Belshazzar’s Feast is probably the most irresistible and exciting music for choir and orchestra ever written. Another fabled ruler, King Arthur, comes to life in Bax’s Tintagel, a dreamy and nostalgic depiction of the cliff-top castle on the coast of Cornwall. Peter Sculthorpe’s Kakadu also evokes a sense of place with its charmed melodies.
Pre-concert talk at 5.45pm in the Northern Foyer by Phillip Scott with composer Peter Sculthorpe as guest.
Featured non-Australian music: Walton, Bax
