Event Details
Steel City Strings’ biennial Celebration of Youth concert returns in 2021, showcasing some of the region’s most talented young musicians.
Young composers are a significant element of the program: From the compositions of nineteen-year-old Mozart to the premiere performance of the string orchestral work that wins the SCS Youth Composition Competition.
The teenage Mozart’s Turkish-inspired A major violin concerto will be performed by Hana Lee, recent winner of the Wollongong Conservatorium of Music Concerto Competition while Tomas Phillips will play Mozart’s achingly-beautiful clarinet concerto.
Artistic Director Kyle Little will be joined by violinist Elliot Winn in duets by Bach and Vivaldi – composers who spent many hours training young musicians – while vocalist Daisy Pring (Featured Artist in the NSW Schools Spectacular) brings her contemporary style to the program.
This concert generously nurtures the ongoing development of performers and composers across the region. ‘Celebration of Youth’ is proudly supported by Create NSW.
Featured non-Australian music: Mozart, Bach, Vivaldi
