Ensemble Offspring’s annual smorgasbord of fun and innovative new music returns to The Great Club (Marrickville’s coolest new venue) in Sizzle | Beat. This year, Sizzle celebrates the vitality of all things rhythm, and provides the perfect fusion of weird and wonderful in the comfort of your local club. Vibe out to the Sydney Conservatorium Percussion Ensemble’s minimalist grooves and be stunned by local legend Connor Malanos’ mind-blowing beat-boxing. Experimental performance art duo Throat Pleats will introduce you to their favourite musical vacuum cleaner, and Hatched Associate Artist Eliza Shephard shows off her flute’s curious glissandi head joint, demonstrated in her own composition, Don’t Knock, Smash. The afternoon also includes family-friendly activities like a djembe jam session for all to join, and the annual Sizzle raffle. Come along for a warm and fuzzy afternoon of new music and awesome food and drinks, all from The Great Club’s newly improved performance space.
