They are followed by the only Australian electric viola band, Elysian Fields, in the Con’s music cafe. Led by viola da gambist Jenny Eriksson and saxophonist Matt Keegan, and accompanied by pianist Matt McMahon, Elysian Fields will perform the sweeping “Elysium” by Matt Keegan, an 18-minute epic which is the first Australian work for voice and electric gamba. The group will also present a newly commissioned song cycle of poems by Thomas Wyatt, set by Matt McMahon and sung by Susie Bishop, along with original works by Eriksson and upcoming bassist/composer, Siebe Pogson.
