Event Details

Come and hear the world premiere of a new marimba concerto written for David Lockeridge by eminent Australian composer, Gerard Brophy. "Scenes from the Caucasus" is a lyrical concerto that features pyrotechnical passages that dash over the marimba with virtuosic tenderness, as well as featuring rich evocative atmospheres.

Set in the region of the Caucasus, this concerto evokes the images of natural beauty that have made this region so popular. Gerard says that he has written this work to "exploit David’s stylish virtuosity in a conventional and almost expected sense, but as well engage him in an atmosphere of lyrical beauty and great tenderness". Written in three movements, this new concerto is sure to transcend you into the world that Gerard has so elegantly composed about.
