Event Details
The Australian String Quartet continues its much loved ‘Quartet and Country’ project – one that seeks to find common ground between Western Art Music and the Songlines of this country. Stephen Pigram’s new work explores his relationship to his Grandmother’s country (‘Buru’ in Yawuru language), and the multi-cultural influences of his hometown of Broome. Paul Stanhope’s exquisite Quartet No.2 is his personal response to the journey of Jewish refugees fleeing persecution in Western Europe, with the concert ending with Beethoven’s beautiful early Op 18 No. 4 Quartet in C minor.
