Event Details
New Springs brings together a group of musicians from two sides of the Indian Ocean who have forged a deep and unique musical connection over several decades. These performers from India and Australia will bring the best of their respective musical traditions together for this very special cross-cultural event. New Springs is led by the legend of Indian music, percussionist Guru Kaaraikkudi Mani, a trailblazing innovator whose music is deeply steeped in the Carnatic tradition. Supported by two leading next-generation musicians, this concert also features B.V. Raghavendra Rao on violin and Guruprasanna on kanjira.
The Australian participants in this project – Adrian Sherriff, Sandy Evans, Jonathan Dimond and Adam King – are leading artists in contemporary Australian music who are deeply engaged with Indian traditions.
