Event Details

The elegance of Elgar welcomes Lurline and our audiences into our 2010 series with his delightful Serenade for Strings. A petite work of sweet simplicity by Sydney's Andrew Schultz leads us into the world premiere of Tommy Tycho's lush and virtuosic Violin Concerto, dedicated to and performed by Lurline's leader and co-founder, Maria Lindsay. Behold richness and depth in Gerald Finzi's pondering Prelude before we end the concert with Dvorak's String Quintet Opus 77. With symphonic suggestions matched with Dvorak's renowned melodic delicateness the work lends itself beautifully to this string orchestral arrangement.

Featured non-Australian music: Finzi, Elgar, Dvorak
