Inspired by love, these distinctive works will take you on a special musical journey directly from the composers hearts.
Peter Sculthorpe adored his mother and wrote the lyrical, Left Bank Waltz with her in mind. This beautiful piece was originally for the piano but has been kindly arranged for Acacia Quartet by Australian composer, Ann-Carr Boyd.
Rachel Gregg joins Acacia to narrate the poetry written by Gustav Pfleger-Moravsky for Antonin Dvorak’s Cypresses. He wrote these love songs for a student with whom he was completely smitten but unfortunately she did not return his love. Alexander Borodin, however, was much luckier in love and dedicated his String Quartet No 2 to his dear wife as an anniversary present.
