Event Details

2019 Brisbane Music Festival artists Oliver Scott and Marian Heckenberg rejoin the BMF team in 2020 to present three captivating works for cello, bass and piano combinations in collaboration with Artistic Director Alex Raineri. A crowd favourite from the 2019 festival, Suspended Preludes by Australian composer Andrew Schultz creates an intoxicating and sensual sound world, a sonic universe of intrigue and gravitational groove. Rossini’s humorous cello/bass duo punctuates a bridge between the Preludes and Shostakovich’s mighty Sonata for Cello and Piano, a work imbued with a profound sense of gravitas.

Performers: Oliver Scott / Cello Marian Heckenberg / Double Bass Alex Raineri / Piano

Featured non-Australian music: Gioachino Rossini: Duo for Cello and Double Bass, Dimitri Shostakovich: Sonata for Cello and Piano in D minor, Op. 40
