Event Details
This concert premieres an exciting new work by Australian composer David Holyoake, commissioned by London-based Ensemble Matisse. The work includes sound recordings of extinct and endangered song birds as background texture and thematic launching point for new chamber music. It makes a powerful environmental statement about the relationship between humans and other species.
The concert also includes music by Messiaen, Ravel and Beethoven and is introduced by Dr Sue Armstrong Brown from the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds.
Performers: Ensemble Matisse with guest artists Njabulo Madlala (baritone) and Daniel Bradley (percussion)
Featured non-Australian music: Messiaen, Ravel, Beethoven
