Event Details

Making its first appearance in the International Concert Season, the Ensō String Quartet bring sparkling sonorities and joyous teamwork to the stage.

Its first Australian program brings bold flavours, from Argentinian composer Ginastera, featured on the Quartet’s Grammy-nominated first album as well as Turina’s luscious, Spanish Serenata. In the second program, Spanish music appears again, but this time centuries older, among three compelling transcriptions of Renaissance pieces.

The Ensō acknowledges two of the cornerstones of a quartet’s life in Beethoven’s beloved ‘Harp’ Quartet, and in Ravel’s amazing, and only, foray into the form. In keeping with the group’s forward-looking nature, there is also a brand-new work written just for them, by revered Australian composer Brenton Broadstock AM.
