Event Details
Returning from their successful tour of Malaysia earlier this year, Bridges Collective will bring a robust program of inter-cultural works to audiences here - with a truly unique program not to be missed!! The concert will showcase 4 Australian premieres of inter-cultural works specially commissioned for Bridges Collective’s “Encounters 2014” project, existing works by Australian composers Ross Edwards, Alison Bauld and Katia Tiutiunnik. The music reflects interactions of Western art music with aboriginal rhythms, Australian wildlife, Malaysian and Indonesian poetry and gamelan, Australia’s English and European heritage and Middle Eastern influences.
The concert will also present the winning work of the inaugural "Bridges Discovery Composition Award", a competitive prize awarded for an original inter-cultural composition from student composers at the Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) in Shah Alam, Malaysia.
