Who said funky improvisation and string quartets don’t mix!? After a long period of wrestling with his inner Jazz demons, contemporary composer Romano Crivici marks his debut at the heart of jazz in Sydney, Venue 505 with three new major works – the gentle, pulsing sound-scapes of Undercurrents, brutal driving rhythms of Gregorian Funk and lyrical outback atmospherics of Landscapes.
Performed by an exceptionally hot incarnation of the ground breaking Elektra String Quartet, Romano moves inexorably one step further to the completion of his new album, Gregorian Funk and More…Join us for the first performance of this cutting edge, but accessible music for string quartet, generously funded by the Australia Council for the Arts.
