You’ve heard them once and now they’re back for more – we’ve handed the reins over to our Fellowship Program Alumni and let them do whatever they like… This December join us for a thrilling new mini-festival: PLAYBACK

From eclectic speech-sounds to ambient soundscapes, organic chamber music meets the vast and vibrant world of the electronic in a mesmerising performance by Andromeda Saxophone Quartet. Sweeping lyrical lines, the grit of guitar effect pedals, and cascading layers of loops combine in a performance by violinist Claire Litwinowicz exploring the old and new. Chaos Collective find solace in the weird and exciting world of modern instrumental performance, morphing together electro-acoustic improvisations, new originals, and works by composers near and afar to gleefully suspend you between states of chaos and calm. Soulful vocals caress a gentle ukulele, stitched together with lilting flute forging the sonic palette of the multidisciplinary artist The Emerald Ruby. Experience the expansive synths, lush electronic soundscapes, flowing woodwind lines and tactile found percussion of New Resource in their newest project ‘Havens’, an ode to the digital spaces that kept the duo connected, ranging from tender and lyrical, to head-spinning and monumental. In between the performances on stage, immerse yourselves in 'Interchange', an interactive installation by Oliver Brown that transports you into the sonic and literal entanglements of Southern California's infamous freeways.

Over the years we’ve had so many amazing emerging artists come through our Fellowship Programs, and it’s been a thrill to see them flourish since. With PLAYBACK, we’re excited to provide a canvas for our alumni to share what they’ve been working on since their time in residency with us.

TICKETS To make sure everyone can join in, tickets are Pay-What-You-Can-Afford, minimum $20. We encourage those of you with the means to do so to pay more, enabling us to put this event on while keeping it accessible to those in our community who may be experiencing financial difficulties.
