For the first time ever the China National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) Orchestra will visit Australia. This world-class orchestra will perform one concert only at the Sydney Opera House on Tuesday 6 November 2012. The concert features an orchestra of 90 under the baton of NCPA’s Artistic Director of Music, Maestro Zuohuang Chen.

Established in March 2010, the China NCPA Orchestra is the orchestra in residence of the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing. The Orchestra performs regularly in NCPA’s busy schedule of operas, ballets and concerts to great acclaim. The orchestra has impressed many world class artists including Lorin Maazel, Christoph Eschenbach, Placido Domingo, Leo Nucci, Lang Lang, Stephen Kovacevich, Rudolph Buchbinder, Yuja Wang, Han-Na Chang.

For the Orchestra’s Sydney premiere China NCPA Orchestra will perform a selection of masterpieces including The Butterfly Lovers composed by Zhanhao He and Gang Chen and Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9 “From the New World”. The concert also features violinist Feng Ning, the first prizewinner of the Paganini Competition in 2006, and a regular guest artist with top conductors, orchestras and festivals around the world.

This is a unique opportunity for Sydney audiences to experience exquisite music and witness the supreme skill and artistry of the China NCPA Orchestra.
