Event Details
The Benaud Trio is one of Australia’s finest chamber ensembles. Formed in Melbourne in early 2005, pianist Amir Farid, violinist Lachlan Bramble and cellist Ewen Bramble have established themselves as formidable performers of the standard repertoire, works by Australian composers and music with a pop/jazz influence.
Apart from their regular appearances at Melbourne Recital Centre and Elder Hall, Benaud Trio have performed in major international festivals in Adelaide and Perth and for Musica Viva in Hobart, Brisbane and Melbourne. The Trio are audience favourites on ABC Classic FM and have acclaimed albums on Melba Recordings.
Social connections are at the heart of our humanity. Dvořák paints a vivid picture of Czech village life through his series of Bohemian folk ballads. Exuding nostalgia, listeners are tossed between furious dance episodes and beautiful lamentations of an existence that is simple yet impassioned. A century later, Carl Vine’s ‘The Village’ Piano Trio is conceived without the usual musical landmarks that normally suggest form and structure. Instead a complex network of musical interconnections describes the social webs that make up the ‘villages’ of our lives.
