Presented in partnership with the Melbourne Recital Centre, the Australian Voices series is a celebration of Australian music. In 2015 the series will take audiences on a journey of discovery across our great musical continent, looking to composers past and present who brought us to where we are today and who are continuing to shape our future.
With inspiration taken from poetry and biblical verse, composer and pianist Nigel Butterley is a unique voice in the Australian compositional world. At times meditative and searching, Butterley’s works range from orchestral and chamber to choral songs and works for solo piano. In the first Australian Voices concert for 2015, award-winning composer Elliott Gyger leads the ANAM Musicians in an exploration of some of Butterley’s lesser perfomed repertoire.
