Event Details

Please note, the 2pm performance is a preview performance, with a slightly different list of performers.

Armistice is an exciting new theatrical performance reflecting on Australia’s wartime and peace-keeping history combining song, music, dance, spoken word and archival footage. Marking 100 years since the end of WWI, Armistice will recognise a centenary of service, sacrifice and achievement.

Featuring an extraordinary collection of material from the Australian War Memorial, this performance includes artwork from Official War Artists Ben Quilty, George Lambert, Will Longstaff and Ivor Hele. It also includes images, videos, letters and diary entries spanning the 100 years of conflicts: helping to bring the history to life for audiences.

This special performance on Remembrance Day reflects QPAC’s commitment to provide opportunities for Queensland artists to tell stories about our rich culture and history. It’s an opportunity for Queenslanders to create a work of national significance.

The performance will feature the Australian premiere of new music commissions by revered composers Michael Askill, Ross Edwards, Elena Kats-Chernin and Andrew Schultz.

The high profile line-up of Australian artists bringing their talents to the stage for this special production includes Brisbane’s own musical theatre stars and actors Ellen Bailey, Andrew Buchanan, Tom Oliver, Kurt Phelan, Naomi Price, Bryan Probets, Kristian Santic, Toni Scanlon, and Tibian Wyles. It will feature live performances by singers John Schumann (I Was Only 19) and, leading Australian didgeridoo player and composer William Barton and acclaimed Brisbane based choir The Australian Voices and ensemble Topology.

Armistice has been created by an outstanding team including Bill Haycock, David Bell, Darrin Verhagen, Simon Woods, David Walters, Natalie Weir, Frank Millward, Sean Mee, Bradley Chatfield, and Chris Latham.
