Now it’s the violin aficionados turn to rave! Tasmin Little’s 2011 appearances will instantly rekindle memories of her 2007 performances of Elgar’s titanic Violin Concerto. This time, the violinist dubbed ‘an international star’ by The Independent, performs Brahms’ equally profound and moving concerto, a work which enshrines the composer’s soul.
Written while still a teenager, Shostakovich’s first symphony is a dazzling display of the young prodigy’s talent, revealing an abundance of clever musical imagination and achieving immediate popularity for its sparkling and irrepressible vitality.
The program begins with Carl Vine's work Microsymphony
