Event Details

Fresh from their successful regional Queensland tour, the 13-piece QSO Connect Ensemble performs a popular program featuring instruments from the entire orchestral family.

The ensemble’s family-friendly program includes selections from Bizet’s opera Carmen, Handel’s Water Music, Debussy’s Children’s Corner Suite and Tchaikovsky’s The Nutcracker Suite, music by Australian composer Elena Kats-Chernin, and a special arrangement of the much-loved modern family favourite, Baby Shark. With narration by QSO musicians, this musical journey will engage young and old.

Prior to the concert, guests are invited to an exclusive ‘In Conversation with QSO’ event at 6.30pm where a member of the Orchestra will present an engaging talk introducing the concert and provide insights into the life of an orchestral musician. ‘In Conversation with QSO’ will be interpreted in Mandarin.

QSO will also deliver a Summerfest public masterclass in the SunPAC Theatre on Saturday 13 November from 11.15am to 12.15pm for advanced instrumental students from MacGregor State School. All are welcome to watch and enjoy the masterclass in action and entry is free.

Featured non-Australian music: Bizet, Handel, Debussy, Tchaikovsky
