I feel like I have just punctured a boil. Only 15 minutes into conversation with the charismatic composer/conductor Richard Mills and already he has released a torrent of frustration. Everything is copping a serve, from economic rationalism and arena productions, to CD distribution and our inability to listen.

It's a formidable sight, this ``fiery'' (his description) 50-year-old, with cropped hair and salt-and-pepper beard, pacing his kitchen in camouflage pants.
