Iran Sanadzadeh is a performer and composer. Her compositions focus on exploring the inherent acoustical properties of instruments she is writing for. Her performances explore the possible relationships between movement and sound using her set of pressure-sensitive floors; she started this journey by studying and expanding the pioneering work of Philippa Cullen and her floors. She has a Ph.D. in finite element modelling for musical acoustics. Her other research and collaborative work focuses on interaction design for music, movement and dance. She is the artistic director and lead composer for Utter Stories.
Iran is passionate about expanding the intersection between disparate understandings and approaches to the use of sound, making collaboration central to her musical practice.
