Alfonso Demasi : Associate Artist

I strive to captivate both the performer and listener with works that invite exploration and harmonically excite the senses.

I have studied and performed music for over 50 years.

During my childhood, I focused on studying the accordion. At the age of 15, I decided to prioritize my career and academic endeavours by choosing the piano as my primary instrument. By 17, I had attained a grade 7 AMEB certification in performance and later completed an AMusA qualification. My experiences with institutions like WA Opera, WA Symphony Orchestra, Literature Centre, as well as Perth's Channel 7 Telethon, have provided me with diverse opportunities to engage in various musical projects. My primary goal in all these endeavours has been to create music that resonates with individuals and underscores the significance of music in our lives.

In my capacity as a music educator, I have engaged in private teaching, accompanied students and choirs, and served as a music specialist in educational settings. I firmly believe that the piano serves as a valuable educational tool, offering a logical gateway to understanding all musical instruments. Throughout my creative journey, composition has held a central role. Whether crafting my own pieces or collaborating on projects, my ultimate aim is to produce music that captivates, challenges, and inspires both performers and audiences alike.

I am the WA representative for the Australian Guild of Music & Speech and have the below compositions listed in their syllabus.

• GRADE ONE: Finger Fitness

• GRADE THREE: No.1 Primo

• GRADE FIVE: Terza & The Calm

• GRADE SIX: Andantino, Allegretto, No.2 Secondo & Mrs Millie's Cat

• GRADE EIGHT: The Storm & Mrs Millie's Triumph

• C.Mus.AGMS: Emotions (Complete Works) & The Storm & The Calm (both)
