Virtual jazzahead! 2021 to feature an Australian showcase and industry panel
Jazzahead! goes online in 2021 - Australia represents with a virtual showcase and Australian industry panel.
From 29 April to 2 May, the jazz world will meet digitally at
jazzahead! 2021. This virtual edition aims to
bring the international jazz community online under the motto
'close together from afar'.
jazzahead! is the annual meeting of the international jazz scene in Bremen, Germany: in 2019, over 3000 participants from 64 nations attended. With the 2021 edition going online, it allows the Australian jazz community to participate and connect without the expense of travelling to Germany. Many Australian artists and industry representatives are able to access the event for the first time.
The participants of jazzahead! come from all areas of the scene: artists, promoters, bookers, labels, agencies, publishers, festival and club program makers, distributors, lobby institutions, associations, press, and more.
SOUNDS AUSTRALIA and the Australian Music Centre will be presenting an all-Australian performance under SOUNDS AUSTRALIA's new virtual showcase moniker Close Up. Close Up format has featured 42 Australian artists as part of events such as SXSW, Folk Alliance International's Folk Unlocked and Americanafest USA & UK. For jazzahead!, the showcase will feature eight original performances filmed exclusively for this purpose.
In addition, the AMC will present a panel discussion which is aimed at highlighting the many opportunities available, with details to be announced soon.
