The Australian Music Centre welcomes the new Albanese Labor Federal Government

The Australian Music Centre (AMC) board and management welcomes the federal election results on the weekend and look forward to the cultural leadership of an incoming Albanese Government.

Following Labor's Arts policy announcement last week, we are pleased to see support of a national cultural plan, local content across all media, support of our First Nations creators and of our unique perspective on the world telling stories through music.

The AMC are committed to developing strong partnerships with the Albanese Government, Greens and Independents, to advocate for our composers, artists, and creators in the Australian Art music sector.

We look forward to seeing a sector-wide consultation approach to a national plan that considers the growth of Australian music at home and abroad, the long-term sustainability of our creative industries, and recognises the contribution of music to Australia's cultural identity.

We support the music industry's three-point plan for direct investment in areas including the creation of new Australian music, skills development, global exports, and use of digital streaming and broadcasting for the benefit of diverse creators and audiences.

We also welcome the whole-of-government approach, including a commitment to the Uluru Statement From the Heart, equality, safety and respect for women, and climate action - all of which have a profound impact on the artistic community.

We thank the Morrison Government and the outgoing Arts Minister Paul Fletcher for the support they have shown the Arts and creative industries during a turbulent and challenging time for many creators, professionals, and small businesses.
