Senate Inquiry update: public hearing transcripts now available

Transcripts are now available for all nine public hearings conducted as part of the the Senate Inquiry into the impact of the 2014 and 2015 Commonwealth Budget decisions on the arts. To read the transcripts, follow this link to find the list of hearings on the Parliament of Australia website. Click the transcript (html + pdf) link next to the hearing you're interested in - this takes you to the Hansard documents page where individual speakers at each hearing can be found on the sidebar on the left.

The AMC's CEO John Davis spoke at Sydney hearing on 5 November, along with representatives from the New Music Network and the Music Trust. Read. You can read their opening statement and the ensuing discussion here.

1366 submissions by individuals and organisations have so far been uploaded to the Senate Committee website, with more being added daily. To read submissions, follow this link. Representatives of ArtsPeak, a confederation of peak national arts organisations, met with the new Minister for the Arts, Mitch Fifield, last week. The Minister acknowledged the disruption to the sector and promised a more consultative approach in the future. More details about the meeting can be found in ArtsPeak's media release on the National Association for the Visual Arts (NAVA) website.

The Senate Committee has been given an extension and is now set to give its report on 2 December.
