Reminder: TSO Composers' School applications close this Friday

Applications for the 2011 Symphony Australia TSO Composers' School close on Friday 18 March. A week of compositional training with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra will take place in Hobart on 24-30 July.

The Symphony Australia TSO Composers' School is an opportunity to experience an intense week of compositional training. The tutors for 2011 include Andrew Ford, Paul Stanhope, Richard Mills and Kenneth Young.

Applications are sought from talented composers who wish to hone their vocal and orchestral writing skills. There is no age restriction but composers need to be Australian citizens or permanent residents. All previous applicants and participants of TSO Composers' Schools are eligible to apply in 2011.

During the week, participants will work closely with leading composers, hear their own music performed by a professional symphony orchestra, learn more about the art of composition through orchestration tasks, rehearsals, workshops and lectures, and meet other composers. The week will include a presentation of works from the Composers' School which will be recorded with the assistance of ABC Classic FM.

Applications must be received at the TSO by 5pm Friday 18 March 2011 (allow at least two working days if posting from outside Tasmania). All applicants will receive written notification of results by 1 April 2011.
