Peter McNamara is one of four young composers from various countries to receive a commission as a result of the yearly competition organised by the Dutch new music ensemble Orkest de Ereprijs. McNamara gets to write a work for the National Youth Orchestra of the Netherlands (NJO), while the other commissions went to Ryan Latimer (commission for the Ereprijs), Thierry Tidrow and Benjamin Scheuer.

The awarding of the commissions took place after the final concert of the Orkest de Ereprijs's week-long Young Composers' Meeting, attended by 16 composers from all over the world. The jury was chaired by the composer Louis Andriessen.

Great news!

Congratulations to Peter. What an exciting and well-deserved opportunity.

I really hope we will get a chance to hear the piece in Australia too!
