Opportunity: 2017 David Harold Tribe Symphony Award

Opportunity: 2017 David Harold Tribe Symphony Award

Applications are now open for the second David Harold Tribe Symphony Award, worth $12,000 and hosted by the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, University of Sydney. Resident Australian composers are invited to submit a new symphonic composition of 20 minutes or more, which will be judged by a panel of three prominent Australian musicians led by the Conservatorium's Associate Dean (Education) and Head of School, Professor Matthew Hindson.

The deadline for submissions is 11.55pm, Monday 3 October 2016, and the winner will be announced at ceremony hosted by the Sydney Conservatorium of Music late in Semester 2, 2016.

This award has been made possible by a donation from David Harold Tribe through the David Harold Tribe Charitable Foundation. The program offers five prizes worth $12,000 each in the areas of fiction, poetry, philosophy, sculpture and symphonic music. The categories rotate each year to inspire ingenuity in these artistic fields that are often overlooked when it comes to charitable support.

> More information about the application process, terms and conditions, and a link to the online form are available on the Sydney Conservatorium of Music website.
