New print publications and CDs from the Australian Music Centre
Image: Jeanell Carrigan: Narratives and Detours - CD cover (detail) A new CD release from the Australian Music Centre, Narratives and detours by pianist Jeanell Carrigan, features works by ten Australian composers. This CD is now available from the AMC Shop for $26. The series of recordings by Carrigan on the Vox Australis label will grow with another volume later this year.
The Music of Liza Lim teacher resource kit, written by Kim Waldock and published by the AMC will be available in August 2012. For more details about the kit and related free workshops, please see this news article on Resonate.
A new pedagogical survey of Australian bassoon repertoire is now available from the AMC Shop for $25. This survey covers works for solo bassoon, bassoon with piano, as well as bassoon with one other instrument. Written by Sophia Rhee, the survey aims at sparking new interest in the versatile instrument as well as the repertoire. 'I wish to remind readers, players and audiences of the role the bassoon can play beyond the orchestra, and open eyes and ears to new and innovative possibilities of the instrument through the wide variety of musical styles found in Australian compositions', Rhee explains.
13 composers have written new works especially for this project - the book includes study scores of works by Michael Hannan, Lisa Cheney, Nicole Murphy and Nathan Wilson.
